This Privacy Policy describes our data collection, use, and disclosure practices through our website, www.refinsight.com, or any of our related websites, software, services, mobile application, or platform that link to this Privacy Policy (collectively, the Site or Services).
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully to understand our policies and practices regarding your information. By using our Site, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy and you agree to the collection, use, and disclosure of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these policies and practices, please do not use our Site.
Capitalized Terms not otherwise defined in our Privacy Policy have the meaning ascribed to them in our Terms of Service.
This Privacy Policy may change from time to time as described below. Your continued use of the Site after we make changes to this Privacy Policy is deemed to be acceptance of those changes, so please check this page regularly for updates.
Information We Collect
We may collect a variety of personal information from or about you or your devices when you interact with our Services. The personal information that we collect depends on the context of your interactions with us and the Services, the choices you make, and the products and features you use.
The types and categories of information we may collect include:
- Contact and demographic information, including name, address, phone number, email address, date of birth, race, ethnicity, gender, profile photograph (except for minors), and other contact or demographic information you provide to us. In the case of minors, we also collect the minor’s parent/legal guardian’s name and email address.
- Account information, including username, availability, schedule, conflicts, and preferences.
- Tax and payment information, such as social security number and banking information, as described below.
- Location information, including general geographic location such as country, state or province, or city.
- Device information, including your IP address, device identifiers, operating system and version, hardware identifiers, browser type and settings, and other device information.
- Content and information you elect to provide through the Services or emails, or other communications.
We may also collect:
- Statistics or aggregated information. Statistical or aggregated data does not directly identify a specific person, but we may derive non-personal statistical or aggregated data from personal information. For example, we may aggregate personal information to calculate the percentage of users accessing a specific Services feature.
- Technical information. Technical information includes information about your internet connection and usage details about your interactions with the Services, such as clickstream information to, through, and from our Services (including date and time), products that you view or search for; page response times, download errors, length of your visits to certain pages, page interaction information (such as scrolling, clicks, and mouse-overs), or methods used to browse away from a page.
Please keep in mind that if you directly disclose information, including personal information, through Ref Insight’s public message boards, this information may be collected and used by others.
Tax Information
You may choose to provide your Social Security Number (SSN) to streamline year-end 1099 tax reporting for our Payor clients. If provided, this information is encrypted when stored using industry-standard encryption protocols and only shared with Payors who have paid you, solely for tax compliance purposes. When shared with Payors, we use secure, password-protected file transfers with time-limited access. SSN information is not shared with our payment processors. If you choose not to provide your SSN, Payors will need to collect it directly from you for tax reporting if required.
Payment Information
If you choose to be paid through Ref Insight Pay, you may provide your banking information (routing number, account number, and account type). The system will prompt you for this information when a Payor who uses Ref Insight Pay needs to pay you, though you may also enter it preemptively during account setup. This information is encrypted when stored using industry-standard encryption protocols and securely transmitted to our payment processor (Routable) via encrypted API connections to create payment methods for receiving payments from Payors. Each Payor only has access to the payment information for officials they actually pay through their segregated workspace. Banking information is not required unless you wish to receive electronic payments through Ref Insight Pay. Payors who use other payment methods (cash, check, or their own payment systems) will not trigger these prompts.
How We Collect Your Information
You Provide Information to Us
We collect information about you when you contact us or interact with our Services, such as when you email us, submit a contact form online, or create, upload, or post content to the Services.

However, if you disable cookies or select the setting on your browser, you may be unable to access certain features of the Services. The Website uses “session” cookies, which last for the duration of your session on our Website. These session cookies are essential to provide you with Services available through the website and enable you to use some of its features. They help to authenticate users and prevent fraudulent use of user accounts. Without these session cookies, the Services that you have asked for cannot be provided, and we only use these cookies to provide you with those Services.
- Third-Party Use of Cookies. Some parts of the Services are served by third parties, which may include advertisers, ad networks and servers, content providers, application providers, and online forms and data-collection tools. For example, our Services may embed videos from YouTube, a service provided by Google LLC. These third parties may use cookies to collect information about you when you use these parts of our Services. They may associate the information collected with your Personal Information or they may collect information, including Personal Information, about your online activities over time and across different websites or other online services. They may use this information to provide you with interest-based (behavioral) advertising or other targeted content. We do not control how these third-party tracking technologies operate or how they may use the collected data. If you have any questions about an advertisement or other targeted content, you should contact the responsible provider directly.
- Web Beacons. Some parts of the Services may contain small electronic files known as web beacons (also referred to as clear gifs, pixel tags, and single-pixel gifs) that permit us, for example, to count users who have visited those parts or for other related statistics (for example, recording the popularity of certain content and verifying system and server integrity).
We may use multiple web analytics tools provided by service partners, including but not limited to, Google Analytics, to collect information about how you interact with our Site, including what pages you visit, what site you visited prior to visiting our Site, how much time you spend on each page, what operating system and web browser you use and network and IP information.
Google Analytics is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic. Google uses the data collected to track and monitor the use of our Site and Services. We use the information provided by these tools to improve our Services. These tools place persistent cookies in your browser to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit our Site. Each cookie cannot be used by anyone other than the service provider (example: Google for Google Analytics). The information collected from the cookie may be transmitted to and stored by these service partners on servers in a country other than the country in which you reside. Though information collected does not include personal data such as name, address, billing information, etc., the information collected is used and shared by these service providers in accordance with their individual privacy policies. You can control the technologies we use by utilizing settings in your browser or third-party tools. You can opt-out of making your activity available to Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The add-on prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript (ga.js, analytics.js and dc.js) from sharing information with Google Analytics about visits activity. Children’s Privacy Notice Addendum
This Addendum supplements the Ref Insight Privacy Policy (the “Privacy Policy”) and applies specifically to the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information from children under the age of thirteen (“children” or “child”) through Ref Insight’s website, related websites, software, services, mobile application, and platform (collectively, the “Site” or “Services”). The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 and its rules (collectively, “COPPA”) require us to inform parents and legal guardians (“parents”) about our practices for collecting, using, and disclosing personal information from children and to obtain verifiable consent from a child’s parent for certain collection, use, and disclosure of the child’s personal information.
In the event of any conflict between the terms of this Addendum and the Privacy Policy with respect to the processing of personal information of children, this Addendum shall control.
Purpose of This Addendum
Ref Insight, LLC (“we,” “us,” “our,” “Company,” or “Ref Insight”) provides an online platform that facilitates the assignment and management of sports officials, including minors who serve as on-field officials for specific sporting events. Because our Services may involve the collection of personal information from children under thirteen, this Addendum notifies parents of the following:
- The types of personal information we may collect from children.
- How we use the personal information we collect from children.
- Our practices for disclosing children’s personal information, including specific categories of third-party recipients.
- Our practices for notifying and obtaining parents’ verifiable consent when we collect personal information from children, including how a parent may revoke consent.
- All operators that collect or maintain personal information from children through the Services.
Information We Collect from Children
Children can access certain parts of the Site and use many of its features without providing us with personal information. However, because our Services facilitate the assignment of children as on-field sports officials, certain features require us to collect personal information from or about children.
Information We Collect Directly
To register a child with the Site, we may collect the following information directly from the child or the child’s parent:
- Contact and demographic information, including name, address, phone number, email address, date of birth, race, ethnicity, gender, and other contact or demographic information you provide to us.
- Parent or legal guardian contact information, including name and email address.
- Account information, including username, availability, schedule, conflicts, and preferences.
- Tax and payment information, such as social security number and banking information, as described in this policy.
- Location information, including general geographic location such as country, state or province, or city.
- Device information, including your IP address, device identifiers, operating system and version, hardware identifiers, browser type and settings, and other device information.
- Content and information you elect to provide through the Services or emails, or other communications.
We only collect as much information about a child as is reasonably necessary for the child to participate in the Services, and we do not condition their participation on the disclosure of more personal information than is reasonably necessary. A parent or guardian email address must be stored within the child’s Ref Insight profile, and all electronic communications will be copied to that parent or guardian email address.
We may request additional optional information from the child or the child’s parent, and we will specify whether information is required or optional when we request it.
Note Regarding Tax Information. Ref Insight permits users to provide their Social Security Number (“SSN”) to streamline year-end 1099 tax reporting for Payor clients. To the extent any such tax-related personal information is collected from a child, it will be collected only with verifiable parental consent, encrypted using industry-standard encryption protocols, and used solely for tax compliance purposes.
Automatic Information Collection
We use automatic data collection technologies to collect certain information from all users, including children, when they access and navigate through the Site. The information we collect through these technologies may include:
- Usage details, IP addresses, operating system, and browser type.
- Information collected through cookies, web beacons, and other tracking technologies, including details of interactions with the Site such as traffic data, location data, logs, and other communication data.
- Technical information about the child’s internet connection and usage details about interactions with the Services, such as clickstream information, page response times, and page interaction information.
- Session cookies that are essential to provide the Services, authenticate users, and prevent fraudulent use of user accounts.
We use persistent identifiers only to support the internal operations of the Site, and we take reasonable steps to ensure that persistent identifiers are not used or disclosed to contact a child individually, to create a profile of the child, or for any other purpose except as permitted under COPPA to provide support for the internal operations of the Site.
For additional information about our automatic information collection practices, including how you can opt out of certain information collection, see the “Information We Collect” and “How We Collect Your Information,” sections of the Privacy Policy.
How We Use Your Child’s Information
In addition to the uses described under “How We Use Your Personal Information,” above, we may use the personal information we collect from your child to:

- Communicate with the child and the child’s parent or guardian about activities, features, or updates related to the Services.
- Provide customer support.
- Track the
